Mirror, Mirror

First and foremost, so sorry for disappearing on you last week.  It was a long one but a good one and I'm gonna keep making adjustments to the blog and my schedule until neither is too strained.  Secondly, isn't this just the loveliest, most ladylike dress you've ever seen?  I'm determined to pull off the elbow length sleeves with long gloves at some point this season so this look offered some real inspiration.  It's just gorgeous!

Getting ready for Lucky Fabb has me in a jumpsuit kind of mood.  I suppose I can't quite explain what a jumpsuit mood actually feels like, but if you've ever been in one you understand exactly what I'm talking about.  I love this jumpsuit look in particular because it's polished but tough and really, really sharp.  The lines are unusual but flattering and the tailored jacket and top balances out the width of the pants so perfectly...it's just a killer ensemble!

1. Leather Bag, Andrea Incontri $820  2. Pear Necklace, J. Crew $150  3. Bergamot Wax Bustier Jumpsuit, Stella Jean $570  4. Leather Biker Jacket, Balmain $6,705  5. Multi Bar Cuff Bracelet, ASOS $26.70  6. Showbiz Platforms, Charlotte Olympia $995

If there's one thing this outfit screams, its luxe, luxe, luxe...which makes sense cause nearly all the pieces are expen-sive.  My favorite part is that each element is so interesting yet they don't compete with each other.  I'm just loving it!

1. Mauro Grifoni Knee Length Skirt, The Corner $295  2. Opal Earrings, Saks Fifth Avenue  3. Theresa Embellished Top, Tory Burch $595  4. Jenny Woven Leather Pumps, Charlotte Olympia $795  5. Lucite Clutch, LuLus $44  6. Skinny Metal Belt, Stella McCartney $645

I'm not prone to rocking an all black ensemble, but this particular look came together in a sharp way.   I especially love how the volume and fun of the skirt is balanced so nicely with the tailored fit of the top.  While the outfit itself is monochromatic, there are quite a few different textures represented...the patent leather accessories, the sheen of the skirt and the resin earrings all add their own element of interest.

1. Collared Shirt, Costa Blanca $52  2. Knee Length Skirt, Ter Et Bantine $598  3. Patent Leather Pump, Zara $99.90  4. Black Clip Earrings, Marni $350  5. Cassandre Patent Leather Clutch, Saint Laurent $995

If only every outfit was this comfortable, flattering and pretty!  I wish I was wearing it right this second.  This navy t-shirt is officially on my radar...the side gather is just too lovely.

For whatever reason, I have a tendency to hoard gift certificates...I mean, I might have one for years before I spend it.  And I have no idea why!  I just always find myself waiting for the perfect purchase to use it on.  Enter this Michael Kors jumpsuit.  I finally pulled the trigger on a Bloomingdale's gift certificate my dear friend gave me for helping with her wedding in April and ordered it over the weekend.  I'm so pumped for it to get here!

There's kind of a lot going on in this outfit...sequins, leather, gold cuffed heels and a necklace to boot.  I kind of love it, though!  Sometimes you've gotta just go for it.

While I won't be in New York for this season's fashion week, I may dress the part anyway.  This look makes me think of one of my favorite style mavens (channeling Rachel Zoe...come in Rachel Zoe).  I've gotta find a similar, affordable necklace to add to my collection...it's such a unique piece!

1. Strapless Jumpsuit, Zara $79.90  2. Happy Wednesday Gold Scarf Necklace, Isabel Marant $325  3. Kidman Tweed Jacket, Alice & Olivia $495  4. Kiss Cuff Bracelet Duo, Asos $25.31  5. Leather Tote, Mansur Gavriel $425  6. Frited Pumps, Aldo $90

Marchesa, you slay me every time.  This dress is an absolute dream!  Finding accessories to compliment such an ornate gown can be a little tricky (they've got to be lovely in their own right so they don't look out of place but you don't want anything to compete with the collar detail) but this little roundup would look smashing.  The sunglasses and cuff dress the look down (as much as a shimmering goddess gown can be dressed down, at least) so take those or leave 'em if you want but the earrings, shoes and purse make the perfect statement...simple, bold and beautiful.  I'm just enamored with it.

1. Embellished Silk Chiffon Dress, Marchesa $3,496.50  2. Tortoise Sunglasses, Sosie  3. Siren Gold Plated Earrings, Monica Vinader $595  4. Esteban Gold Plated Cuff, Aurelie Biderman $730  5. Ayla Goat Hair Clutch, Maiyet $2,150  6. Thin Strap Sandals, Zara $99.90

I so don't want to be that annoying friend who won't stop bringing up the same topic over and over but- until the end of this week at least- the topic is Italy and I am that friend.  I just can't help myself!  In an effort to keep the references to a minimum I'll only mention that I picked up a gorgeous bag in Florence that looks nearly identical to the bag below.  It was one of my only real "souvenirs" from the trip but it's quickly become the best every day bag I've ever owned.  I was itching to buy a pair of these sandals before my trip but then decided against it last minute (it just seemed too literal...do I really want to be the girl touring the Coliseum in gladiator sandals?).  I may pick up a pair to wear through the beginning of fall, however...with a simple, breezy outfit like today's Mirror, Mirror they look so sharp!

1. Silk Swing Dress, Top Shop $180  2. Caramel Leather Tote, Cuyana $150  3. Gold Tassel Necklace, Bauble Bar $142  4. Rotary Watch, Asos $185.64  5. Holek Gladiator Sandals, Aldo $100

Fun announcement: I'm going to Italy!  Tomorrow!  For a little over a week!  It'll be my first time visiting the land of my people...to say I'm excited is a massive understatement.  I plan to take at least a million pictures so I'll have lots to share when I get back.  I had a pretty specific picture in my head of the types of outfits I wanted to bring so needless to say I spent a dollar here and there on a few things...nothing too extravagant, but some linen pieces and a couple silky dresses for good measure.  It's gonna be hot so most of my daytime outfits are along these lines.  So in summary, I'm the happiest person ever.

1. Strappy V Neck Cami, TopShop $36  2. Cat Eye Acetate Sunglasses, Stella McCartney $295  3. Crepe Tuxedo Pants, Band of Outsiders $340  4. Tia Silk Scarf, Club Monaco $89.50  5. Strappy Sandal, ShoeMint $79.98  6. Cassidy Medium Weekender, Sole Society $69.95

Flattering black dresses will never go out of style.  It's just the truth.  While the earrings are the clear centerpiece of this outfit (they're amazing), the dress holds it's own to be sure.  I love the simplicity, I love the Grecian drape, I just love it all.

Before you look at this long sleeved summer dress and start instantly sweating let me remind you of this: it may be sweltering outside but it's essentially freezing inside just about everywhere you go.  A nice light fabric with some coverage won't overheat you in the sun and may just be your saving grace in the arctic that is every indoor area in all the land.  I'm all about those summer layers!

1. Aztec Silk Dress, Matches Fashion $538  2. Metal Aviator Sunglasses, Amazon $2.99  3. Chancay Sandals, Aldo $29.98  4. Chain Bracelets, Aldo $20.36  5. Glazed Leather Tote, Miu Miu $1,650

Since tomorrow is the 4th of July, today seemed like a great day to plan for a pool party.  While the color palate isn't as festive as I tend to gravitate to (mostly due to the fact that I have excessive celebration issues), it's a color combo that's really unique, and I'm into that.  If ever there was a time to keep accessories to a minimum, it'd be a pool party so I'm extra glad the lovely pattern gives this look a bit of interest.

1. Floral Print Romper, Zimmermann $350  2. Bluebell Plunge Bikini Top, Topshop $26  3. Bluebell Tieside Bikini, Topshop $16  4. Talulah Flats, Aldo $50  5. Designsix Bangles, Asos $30.55

I adore this dress for two simple reasons...1) it's from Zara, one of the few 'can do little to no wrong' stores in my life and 2) it reminds me of a (non-Zara) dress I have and wear as often as possible.  This color doesn't suit everyone but if there's ever a time it's gonna work, it's summer (thank you tan skin).  Marrying chic and comfortable can be a tricky endeavor, but outfits like this make it look effortless.

1. Long Dress, Zara $59.99  2. Onyx Necklace, Saint Laurent $3,450  3. Nail Foundation, HIPP x RGB$18  4. Flamenco 36 Shoulder Bag, Loewe $2,600  5. Dottie Wedge Sandals, Diane von Furstenberg $228

Today's Mirror, Mirror is an interesting take on a beautiful summer suit.  I've been on a monochromatic kick for quite awhile now and I can't even apologize for it.  Admit it, that's gorgeous!

How lovely is this shirt?  I think I'd probably wear it with everything in my closet all summer long...dress it down with jeans, dress it up with sequins- this shirt can handle it all.  I paired it with a few ladylike pieces in this particular ensemble...a brightly colored sleeveless button down underneath and a pair of nude heels would look great, too!

1. Gold Mesh Choker, Refinery 29 Shops $58  2. Toulouse Floral, J. Crew $398  3. Big Apple Tote, Marc Jacobs $2,895  4. Stretch Crepe Skirt, Net-A-Porter $595  5. Elisha Pump, Badgley Mischka $109.97

Crazy as it may be, I'm obsessed with this flower crown.  Just nuts about it!  Instead of styling it to compliment a hippie vibe, I went simple and chic...there's no reason to introduce another element that competes for attention.  A bold, red lip and an interesting braid would complete the look...and sure, folks will stare but that's the price you pay to not be boring :).

1. Black Midi Dress, Miss Selfridge $34  2. Oversize Flower Aliceband, Topshop $28  3. Jules Smith Americana Choker, Shopbop $98  4. Liberty Leather Shopper, Victoria Beckham $1,350  5. Caged Metallic Single Sole Pump, Charlotte Russe $28.50

Is it too hot outside to wear leather pants?  Probably.  But for some reason I really want to!  I'd also have a grand 'ol time with this necklace...I love the effect of pairing it with a simple t-shirt, don't you?  As for the splash of cobalt, it gives the whole look an extra bit of life (because the diamond and leather combo is just boring...I kid).

1. Jersey T-Shirt, Alexander Wang $100  2. Stretch Leather Leggings, Helmut Lang $920  3. Suede Sandals, Giuseppe Zanotti $695  4. Crystal Floral Necklace, J. Crew $168  5. Crystal Clutch, Noir $425

This look calls for bold cat-eye liner, a big 'ol top knot bun and just a bit of bounce in your step (which shouldn't be too tricky in a dress this flattering).  I tried to accessorize with a bit of edge but you could just as easily take it in another direction by swapping out the necklace and shoes.

1. Scoop Back Dress, Kate Spade Saturday $150  2. Dressed To Kill Lipstick, Nars $26  3. Long Lasting Eyeliner, Sephora $12  4. Besso Textured Sandals, Jimmy Choo $795  5. Flat Spike Necklace, Eddie Borgo $386  6. Graphic Berry Nail Laquer, Dior $24  7. Geo Tote, The Cools $780
