Guest Post: Patricia from Condiment Digital Magazine
I'm psyched to have Patricia, the founder and editorial director of Condiment digital magazine (get it? Condiment? Something that gives flavor? I love that...) guest blogging today. I found Condiment on Twitter and was immediately taken with their format. They publish several new lifestyle articles each week on a homepage that acts as an interactive magazine cover. It's quite sharp looking. When you have a minute, you should explore their archives...there's some good stuff in there!

First, take a good stock of what you've got to work with in terms of your space. Grab measurements and get to planning. Do you want something for casual lounging about, serving meals, or catching a few rays? Are there children in the home to factor in? Once you've got a sense of what you want and need, you can get to decorating.

For seating options, the sky truly is the limit. It all depends on the environment you want to create. Cozy cushioned seats can be found at places like Target and Ikea if budget is an issue. For something with a clean line, Adirondack style chairs can often be found in a variety of materials and colors, while stores like Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn likely have great wood pieces.

Wicker is another good go-to option. Add in outdoor pillows or cushions to then soften the space. Speaking of space, if yours is limited, a pair of simple chairs in a unique material and a small table can be more than enough to create an environment you'll want to duck to all season. Larger spaces can allow for tables of all types, but don't think you necessarily have to skip a table top if you're limited on area -- bistro table and chair sets come in a variety of styles and materials and can work very well.

Once you've got your furniture down, it's time to add in color and accessories. Tea lights, outdoor lanterns, comfy cushions, pops of colors, paper lanterns, Italian lights, and potted plants of all types and sizes can all work to add a touch. Put potted plants to double use by using for herb and small fruit or vegetable gardens.

If you've got kids, look to pool stores for storage options to tuck away toys -- they often offer wood and plastic styles that can double as seating so that you and little ones can both use and love your outdoor space.

Guest Post: Kate from Undeniable Style
When I first found Kate's blog, Undeniable Style, it took me all of five seconds to realize this girl knows what's up. In her 'about me', she talks about loving chic Italy in the 60's, learning to manage her curly hair and says her style icons are Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Zoe, Audrey Hepburn and Olivia Palermo (does that sound like someone you know? If you didn't immediately think "Gabby, that's just like you!", then please consider me officially offended). I was thrilled to hand Kate the reins today...in fact, I even scheduled this post in lieu of a Mirror, Mirror. She's got it under control. Thanks for the great post, Kate!

2 years ago I wrote about how a good floral was hard to find. Amazing how times have changed! I have to admit that I skipped out on the floral pants trend that took the blog world by storm this spring. It just felt too trendy to me. But floral shorts? Just as trendy, but apparently something I can really get behind.
The best part about floral shorts is the pop of print without overwhelming. Ease into pattern mixing or keep it tame with neutral basics. I may be biased, but I think they work with everything! A few of my favorite looks:

Guest Post: Rin from Papered Thoughts
Greetings from the Sunshine State! The opportunity to get away and spend some time with dear, lifelong friends has been priceless. Just...too wonderful. But just cause I'm off getting sun-kissed doesn't mean you should be neglected. Which brings me to my next point...the gorgeous gals scheduled to guest post while I'm away. First up is Rin from Papered Thoughts, who I met through the Send Something Good Project from a few weeks ago (a few weeks? Last week? When was that? Golly, time flies). I know a lot of creative people...in fact, I'd like to think of myself as a creative person, but sweet Rin puts us all to shame. Her blog literally explodes with life and color and some of the neatest ideas I ever did see. I was so excited when the wonderful Gabrielle contacted me & asked me if I'd be interested in Guest Blogging for her - I said "Yes!" (a little too loudly) & began working on my First Guest Post straight away.
Snail Mail is one of my Favourite things in the universe. There is nothing better than running up to your letter box & finding a letter from across the oceans written just for you. To think that someone has sat down & spent time thinking about me - just makes me all giddy & fuzzy inside! - So let's spread the love, send a letter to a grandparent, cousin, old friend or new - across the ocean or around the corner.. it doesn't matter - I guarantee that a hand written letter will bring a smile to anyones face. - okay here it is "Papered Thoughts" First Guest Post - Let's get back to basics & Re-discover how to write a kick-a letter.
Where does it all begin? - A Simple piece of paper - That's all it takes.. Lined, Unlined, Coloured, White, Card, Aerogramme, The Choices are endless - Find something that makes you smile & run with it..
(Hello My name is Rin & I am a Washi Tape Addict) - If you have not discovered this amazing tape yet, you are missing out - Blank white Paper comes alive with a little splash of colour.. Again the Possibilities are endless! Get creative - There are no rules!
Okay lets get writing - Before we begin let me suggest (strongly) that you date your letters.. Really for no other reason than this - Earlier this year I flew to New Zealand to visit my grandmother who had become very ill - We started talking about letters, I showed her my blog (at 93 she still gets it!) & Told her about all my wonderful penpals all over the world - She left the room and came back with a box.. a box absolutely stuffed full of letters! - Letters from my Grandfather, Her Parents, Her cousins & Friends all Handwritten - all from various adventures all over the globe & every single one dated - Some as early as 1927. Think about it - imagine 80 years from now your letters finding their way into the hands of a child, grandchild or even a stranger.. Amazing right. - So please if you do one thing! Date your letters!
The other thing I love to do with letters is experiment with typography - get creative, try new styles out, be bold!
Write about what makes you happy - What you did today - What you want to be when you "grow up" - Where you live - What your family is like - Where you've been - Where you're going.. It doesn't matter, as long as you put your heart behind what you're saying. <3
Another Super Spesh little thing I love to do within my letters is play "Mail Tag" A game Inspired (created) by the lovely Bianca from "goodnight little spoon" - I made up my Own Mail Tag Sheet & photocopied it to include in all my letters - It's a fantastically quirky way to get to know your penpals (& even family members!)
"Mail-tag consists of an exchange of postal
correspondence between (2) people. The first person begins the game by
requesting one or more desired things. That person then mails those requests to
the other participant - who interprets those requests, writes a list of their
own requests for the other participant and sends them back. You can take as much
or as little time to compose and send back your reply, ask for as few or as many
things in your requests and generally interpret requests in whichever way you
see fit."
Okay now for the super fun part - let's create some "Mail Art" .. Mail Art is a big part of the Snail Mail Revival - Say No to boring white envelopes & create lovely pieces of art to travel through the postal system.
You Can use anything that will make it over the long journey (heavy items & buttons are generally a no-go, the postal machine chews them up!) but anything papery is great.. Ephemera is great for projects like this - raid your local second hand shop (& Etsy) for some great finds!
Now for the "Good Stuff" that extra little bit of exciting pretty goodness that you can stuff into your envelope - whilst still keeping it nice and cheap to send (postage is expensive these days!) Here are a few of my favourites
- Tea - Vintage Stamps - Pretty post it notes - Postcards - Fortune telling Fish - Umbrellas - Confetti - Stickers - Notebooks - Pens - Pencils - Anything that is generally flat & safe to send via the mail!

Guest Blog: Diana from Harvey Designs
I love receiving letters in the mail. It’s at the top of my list of my favorite things. Next to actually speaking to that person face to face, receiving a letter is the best way to feel that a loved one/ dear friend is present. Seeing their handwriting, knowing they touched the same piece of paper you are now holding is a very tactile experience. It means the world to me.
It’s not just the receiving of letters! I love to write letters, which brings me to the topic of this post. STATIONERY! I firmly believe that everyone needs at least one, nice, all-purpose set of stationery. (Sounds old fashioned, but have you ever tried to write a professional thank you note on a piece of ruled notebook paper? Not. Happening.) All-purpose stationery can be boring and uninspiring, so I have scoured the internet etsy, and have four different categories that should cover just about any situation. I have included some of my favorites for each category!
Romantic: Tip: guys… girls LOVE getting little notes, even better if they’re not on the back of a napkin! And I don’t care how tough guys are, they like getting letters too! (amiright?!)
Professional: asking for that raise looks so much better when it’s written on a nice polished piece of stationery!
Friends/ Family: cheeky or just plain old fun, this is my favorite category.
Specific occasion: thank yous, birthdays, sympathy, etc. Easily the most used category.

Guest Post: Jessica from Learning Love's Life
Hello, I’m Jessica and I have a little blog called Learning Love’s Life. I’ve been friends with Gabby since my freshmen year of college and she’s not only hilarious but incredibly creative too (which I’m sure is not news to you). When she asked me to guest post I brainstormed for a few days on what I wanted to share and then came the light bulb: push presents.
Currently being 9 months pregnant I have all kinds of crazy thoughts running around. So what is a push present you ask? It’s a very thoughtful gift from a woman’s husband given right after she becomes a new mom. Sort of a, “I know this isn’t going to make up for the traumatic and life changing experience you just had but thanks sweetheart” token of gratitude if you will. Rachel Zoe was recently given a push present from her husband: only a 10 carat ring, nothing too amazing of course. So I came up with a few items that I think would make for charming push presents for new mamas …
Hunter rain boot, $110

T shirt necklace, $38
Concert tickets: a date night to see Adele or Mumford & Sons would serve as an excellent adults-only evening out .
New dishes and cooking extras: now that we’re domesticated so to speak, a good place to start is having a chic kitchen. Anthropologie is always a safe bet.
A kindle or nook: reading is one of my greatest strategies of relaxation. As I’m holding an infant it may become challenging to also hold my latest warm-weather read. Having this small device can be handy during long feedings, cry-athons, or rocking baby to bed in the wee hours of the morning. A delightful cover doesn't hurt either.
Dramatic accessories: if none of my favorite clothes fit yet, I can still feel like a presentable lady in new diamonds or pearls.
Rayban Wayfarers: new mom= no sleep. To battle the dark undereye circles, a classic pair of sunglasses when I’m running errands with baby will make all the difference in how I face the world.
Rosetta Stone: while many mothers love staying at home with baby, after a few days of cooing over the little joy it's common to begin to crave some adult interaction. Having this little nugget will serve to still make mama feel like a productive adult while also multi-tasking and working to develop baby’s communication skills. Experts say the best time to learn a new language is between birth and age 7!
Last but not least, a giftcard to her favorite store! Being a new parent means learning that the world no longer revolves around you and your desires. By gifting this simple piece of plastic, a mom can remember that it's okay for it to be about her every so often... within reason of course.
I hope you enjoyed some of my suggestions, even if you're not expecting they are reasonable gifts to ask for any upcoming birthday, anniversary, holiday, or the run-of-the-mill Tuesday.

Guest Post: Brooke & Breanna from Style Sorbet
We are honored to be guests on such a fabulous blog! A little bit about us: we love clothes, shoes, and shopping, but mostly we love living with style. Obviously that includes more than just apparel. 1) Deborah Kerr wears the most gorgeous dresses. We love that everything accents her waist with a perfectly placed belt. She is stunning but beyond that, every word she speaks or move she makes is done with such grace.
2) Cary Grant is the original McDreamy. Chivalrous, charming and handsome enough to make any girl swoon.
3) The love story is epic. Long before the days of “Sleepless In Seattle”, women found themselves weeping in theaters as they watched this relationship develop. Get the tissues. Get the chocolates. And get ready.

Book with style:
We heard about this book last year and were hooked by the title. How many “Hilton hoochies” are getting the world’s attention while “aspiring Audreys” wait in the wings? The book includes quizzes, recipes, social tips and even some Friends quotes, which, if you are anything like us, is enough to win you over. We think it’s even a great gift for girls who would like to be known for their class, dignity, and intelligence, rather than their infamous behavior.
Quote worthy: “Self-respect is one of the greatest assets a girl can possess, and yet it’s one of the biggest things we’re lacking these days. Oh, the shame that’s been documented by reality TV crews all over the world!”
Album with style:
Very few albums can be listened to start to finish without skipping tracks. This is one that passes the test with flying colors. No trace of a sophomore slump here! Some tracks, like “Rumor Has It” have cheeky lyrics and an up-tempo groove. Others, like “Turning Tables” and “Someone Like You” have haunting melodies and lyrics that show she’s no stranger to heartbreak. We love the old school soul in each one.

Guest Post: Carla from decorativity
I had such fun meeting Gab at a conference this winter, and now I'm thrilled to be a guest writer on Design Muse! When I visit this blog I always feel inspired, from the fashion and home picks to the recipes to the fun conversational writing style. I happily hunted for the best decorative products I could offer to Design Muse. One of the first things I found was this "Musings"tray....it's just too perfect!
I love the poetic inscription: when the layers subside, and the fortune is empty, the pigment of our days will echo pure. and i will be nowhere if not with you. I find it inspiring, just like the weekly Design Musings quotes. I decided to continue searching for musings interpreted in home decor, and here are my discoveries:
Letterpress Art Print from tagteamtompkins- Emily Dickinson quote in a silhouette-inspired letterpress.
Paper Garland from collectingfeathers- 1800s sheet music hand-cut into hearts, with vintage floral handkerchiefs sewn throughout.
La Poeme Rug from Ballard Designs- This indoor-outdoor rug is inscribed with a famous 17th century French poem.
Love Letters Sheet Set from Anthropologie- Bedding printed with actual love notes collected from a Brooklyn antique shop...be still my heart!
